Chapter One – Bell Work
It was only a dark and windy day at Colossal Middle School. The dark and windy day was not the best time for a school day. Jared, a young male sixth grader dragon, liked this weather. In fact, he loved it. Jared's green smooth scales were reflective of the lightning happening in the shady clouds above, outside. "Don't you just love this beautiful dark weather?" Jared said softly.
Rebuta, a female red and light pink dragon replied, “No. I'd rather be outside running around under the warm blazing sun, in the lovely green grass.” She sighed, “Anyway, when is it going to be time for class?"
Jared looked at his bright yellow watch,"Hmm... about six minutes, Rebuta." He replied, “Time for breakfast," He said excitedly."Want to go get some with me, Rebuta?"
"No thanks. I already ate at my cave. I'll wait here until these doors open up. I’m really sorry, Jared." Rebuta said with a very impatient frown on her face.
Jared walked into the breakfast line and carefully chose what he would like to eat. Rebuta glared at the dark sky. She was a little worried about the weather, and how it looked. The schools doors finally barged open, and Rebuta stepped inside. She looked back at Jared. He munched on some cereal and waved a Rebuta. She slightly raised he claws, and managed to wave a little. Rebuta continued walking and didn't look back. Once she reached her classroom, she walked directly in. Mrs. Poufy looked at her, “Why the long face?"
Rebuta felt her face, “What? My face isn't long..."
Mrs. Poufy chuckled and continued focusing on holding her door open for students to come in. Rebuta sat down. She glanced at the white board and read the bell work. This was her History and Geographic class. She carefully read the assignment.
Welcome back students, and happy Monday! Please get out the following:
Your Pencil, a piece of paper, and your WORD BOOK. Fill out this weeks word part, and read the first chapter of our new book - Richards Dream. Also, go up to the front table and grab your homework and the yellow paper, I will explain the yellow sheet later.
She got out her supplies for first period. She copied down her new word for the week, which was "Ject". She had to come up with a picture, and a sentence. She drew it in her book.
After she finished, she noticed Jared just walking in at the sound of the schools bell.
“Am I late Mrs. Poufy?” Jared asked.
“Of course not, you go in her before the bell rang. Correct?” Mrs. Poufy said.
“Yes. I’ll go and sit down…” Said Jared.
Jared sat a Rebuta’s class table. That’s how they both became friends. Rebuta liked Jared as a friend; Jared liked her as a friend too. As soon as Jared sat down, Rebuta got up.
“Where are you going?” Asked Jared in a friendly way.
“Read the board and maybe you’ll learn something for once.” Rebuta chuckled.
Jared read the board and figured out what she was doing. He didn’t want to show it though; he didn’t want to make a fool of himself again. Rebuta chuckled in her mind, knowing he was embarrassed. She got to the front table, grabbed her homework and the mysterious yellow sheet and quickly got back to her desk. She sat down and stuffed her papers into her folder and back into her backpack. Then, she began read her book. After twenty minutes she finished chapter one. Mrs. Poufy came to the white board, and wrote something onto it.
Please keep your bell work on your desk for me to pick up. Pull out, or come get your homework and yellow sheet. Keep your yellow sheet on your desk.
I reached into my backpack and got the yellow piece of paper back out. I placed it near my bell work and waited patiently. Rebuta wondered about the yellow sheet of paper. What was it for?
